ACS-CVS 2018

Rahuljeet Chadha, Greg Kalminskii, and Jason Deck attended the ACS Connecticut Valley Section spring symposium at Central Connecticut State University on April 21, 2018.

RJ and Greg gave a talk about their work on loading peptide substrate reporters into cells, and Jason presented a poster on his modifications to MatLab programming for data analysis.

Pittcon 2018

Julia Clapis ’18 and Prof. Kovarik traveled to Orlando to present at Pittcon 2018. Julia made great use of the Career Services at the conference, doing several onsite interviews. She also made new connections and at least one new friend!

ACS-CVS Spring 2017 Meeting

Cottrell Scholar Award

I am excited to be a 2017 Cottrell Scholar and thrilled to have support for our project looking at biological noise in Dictyostelium discoideum as well as for my work on using the primary literature in the classroom. More info about the program is here.

First Research Paper from the Lab Published!

2016-11-29_1102The first research paper from the laboratory, titled “Interspecies comparison of peptide substrate reporter metabolism using compartment-based modeling,” has been accepted by Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry and is now available online. It was even selected by the editor to be highlighted as a Paper in Forefront! Congratulations to co-authors Allie, Nhat, Kunwei, and Prof. Brooks Emerick, and many thanks to our colleagues in the Allbritton Lab at UNC and the Graf lab at UConn for their help.

ACS 2016 Philadelphia

Kunwei Yang and Allie Tierney presented their research at the fall national ACS meeting in Philadelphia this week.

ACS 2016 Philly

I also presented an overview of the lab’s work in a symposium honoring the Division of Analytical Chemistry’s awardee for chemical instrumention, Nancy Allbritton. Congratulations to Dr. Allbritton on her much-deserved recognition!

Funded!

The lab has received its first external grant, through the Research at Undergraduate Institutions at the National Science Foundation! The funding is through the Cellular Dynamics and Function program at the Division of Molecular and Cellular Biology.
